However, if our clients' interests so require, we effectively and aggressively represent their interests at trial.

 

Many of our business clients are surprised to learn that even where their insurance carrier agrees to defend a claim, the client is entitled to select their own counsel. Insurers routinely issue a "reservation of rights" letter when the client submits a claim for coverage. The letter states that the insurer will assume the defense of the claim but will reserve the insurer's right ultimately to refuse coverage. When this occurs, the insured company has the right to choose its own counsel to represent the company's interests. Of course, the insurance carrier is obligated to cover the legal fees.
